A recent joint poll by ABC News and The Washington Post revealed that nearly 44% of Americans believe their financial situation has worsened since President Joe Biden took office in 2021

This dissatisfaction with President Biden's economic performance is the highest recorded for any president since polling began in 1986 by these two media outlets

Only 37% of Americans approve of President Biden's overall performance, while 56% disapprove

When it comes to economic policies, 30% of respondents approve, and 23% approve of his migration policies

The poll was conducted over the phone in both English and Spanish from September 15 to 20 and surveyed 1,006 adults, with a margin of error of 3.5%

A significant 74% of those surveyed believe President Biden, at 80 years old, is too old to be re-elected, a 6% increase from May

In the event of another government shutdown by the end of the fiscal year on September 31, 40% of respondents said they would personally blame President Biden and the Democratic party in Congress

Surprisingly, former President Donald Trump's actions as president were regarded as effective by 48% of respondents, which is 10 percentage points higher than when he left office in 2021

Despite this, 62% of Democrat and Democrat-leaning voters believe the Democratic party should nominate someone other than Biden for the 2024 presidential race

A recent YouGov and Yahoo News poll showed that President Biden's lead over Trump for the 2024 presidential race has diminished

with both candidates now having the support of 44% of registered voters, marking a significant shift from the previous month's poll
