The US has engaged in back-channel talks with Iran recently to caution against escalating the Israel conflict due to the Hamas attack 

White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan confirmed these private communications with Iran on CBS News’s Face the Nation 

The US is concerned about Iran's potential involvement in the conflict and is closely monitoring the situation, including proxy activity by Hezbollah in Lebanon 

In response to the escalating situation, the US dispatched the USS Eisenhower carrier strike group to the Eastern Mediterranean as part of its deterrence strategy 

Sullivan expressed concern about the risk of escalation on Israel's northern border but noted that there's no specific intelligence indicating an increased risk of Iranian involvement
